Starts to Debond Ratio

While your practice may use more divisions of treatment categories, Gaidge has divided debonds into four categories as a means of keeping consistency between participants in Gaidge.

  • Full Treatment/Phase 2 – both Full braces and Phase 2 braces debonds
  • Phase I Treatment – end of Phase 1 treatment
  • Aligner Treatment – end of aligner treatment (full and phase 2)
  • Other Treatment – all other treatments which may include Limited, Splint Only, Transfer cases, etc.

The relationship of treatment starts to debonds reflects the ability to finish treatment within the estimated time frame and with an efficient number of visits.  This calculation also reflects continued practice growth.  During a month, debonds are completed for starts that were initiated 18-24 months prior.  To maintain an acceptable rate of growth as well as allow for an acceptable number of patients overestimated treatment time, the start-to-debond ratio should be greater than 1:1.

Formula:
Total Treatment Starts ÷ Total Debonds

Default Target:
1.2 to 1.3 Starts per Debond
